Frequently asked questions

Answers about escalators – from safety and standards to sensors and lighting.

Safety & standards

Escalator & moving walk – compliant with EN 115, for new installations and retrofitting

Are your escalator components compliant with EN 115?

Yes. Our safety, sensor and lighting components are designed for the operation of escalators and moving walks in accordance with EN 115.

Are the products suitable for retrofitting existing escalators?

Yes. The components are designed both for new installations and for the retrofitting and modernisation of existing escalators and moving walks.

What is the purpose of rotational speed monitoring?

It reliably monitors the step speed – the basis for safe, compliant operation in accordance with EN 115.

Sensors & lighting

Light curtains, LED lighting, direction indicators and radar & precipitation sensors

What are radar sensors on escalators used for?

For demand-controlled operation: the unit only runs, or speeds up, when passengers are detected – saving energy and reducing wear.

What does a light curtain do in the entry and exit area?

It detects people and obstacles in the entry and exit area – for fewer false triggers and greater safety.

What lighting do you offer for escalators?

Comb, skirting and step-gap lighting as well as LED spots in several signal colours – for clear visual guidance at the step gap and entry/exit.

What does a direction indicator show?

It clearly shows passengers the direction of travel – clear guidance at every entry and exit (e.g. as a multifunction LED signal).
