The WS7400-W direction indicator with optional function monitoring is a white backlit triangle with a red border. It offers high optical contrast with low power consumption and homogeneous illumination.
Use on escalators and moving walkways
Direction indicators from RLS Wacon signal the direction of travel or the release of the unit to passengers on escalators and moving walkways. The illuminated symbol shows passengers the permitted direction of travel. Depending on the version, installation is in the balustrade, in a round or square column, or in the base. The bright, homogeneous LED illumination remains clearly visible even in ambient light; when de-energised, no symbols are visible. A curved, replaceable front lens and a wide input voltage range ensure robust continuous operation.

Areas of application
Field of use
The direction indicator is mounted on the access side of escalators and moving walks and signals to passengers that the direction of travel of the unit can change. For this purpose it shows an alternating traffic symbol (triangle with red border).
Operating principle
The symbol is displayed by backlit LEDs and offers high optical contrast with homogeneous illumination and low power consumption. No symbol is visible when de-energised. Optionally, the indicator is available with function monitoring for connection to a remote diagnostics system.
Installation
- Insert the indicator into the cut-out provided in the square column or base plate.
- Connect the operating voltage (see Technical data).
- For versions with function monitoring, connect the monitoring output to the remote diagnostics system.
Maintenance & cleaning
- Regularly inspect the front lens and display visually.
- Clean the front lens with a soft cloth if dirty – the front lens is replaceable.
- For versions with function monitoring: check fault messages in the remote diagnostics system.
Important notes
- No symbol is visible when de-energised.
- Order fastening material separately (traffic light fastening set).
- Install only when de-energised.
