The active end module terminates a transmitter or receiver chain in the E version. It is part of the self-monitoring of the light curtain; each chain requires the matching end module for the transmitter side and for the receiver side.
Automatic restart systems (WBS) are used on escalators and moving walks in public and commercial passenger transport and automatically release the unit again after an emergency stop as soon as nobody is on it any more. The E version is designed for escalators made by Schindler and ThyssenKrupp and is recommended for new installations.
The light curtain uses up to 99 light barriers to create a vertical safety light grid across the escalator. Each light barrier consists of a transmitter module and a receiver module; if a person interrupts a light beam, the TLCU central unit detects the occupancy and withholds the release. The system works independently of ambient light and is self-monitoring and self-configuring according to EN 115:2008 (Cat. 4 / SIL 3).
