CALDUR® Iron HRS Test Set – Photometric

What is iron measured for?

Iron (Fe) is a common parameter in water analysis. Elevated iron concentrations lead to brown discoloration, a metallic taste and deposits in pipes. The limit value for drinking water is 0.2 mg/l Fe (Drinking Water Ordinance).

The HRS test set (High Range Sensitive) is specially designed for higher concentrations up to 10 mg/l and is particularly suitable for groundwater, well water and industrial applications where elevated iron levels frequently occur.

How does the test set work?

The CALDUR® Iron HRS test set is based on the o-phenanthroline method. The reagent forms an orange-red complex with iron(II) ions, the concentration of which is precisely determined photometrically.

Advantages of the CALDUR® test set

  • Large measuring range 0.2 – 10 mg/l Fe

Ideal for groundwater and industrial applications with high iron levels

  • 150 provisions per set

    Economical for continuous use

  • High precision due to photometric evaluation

    Objective, reproducible measurement results

  • Only 1 reagent required

Quick and easy to carry out in 4 minutes

Areas of application

Pond / lake
Groundwater / well water
Drinking / tap water
Aquaristics
Pool / Swimming pool
Industrial processing
Boiler water
Food preparation
Waste water treatment

Carrying out the measurement:

  1. Fill water sample into round cuvette up to the mark
  2. Add reagent and mix
  3. Wait for 4 minutes reaction time
  4. Insert the cuvette into the WINLAB Data Line photometer and start the measurement

Important notes

  • Adhere exactly to the reaction time of 4 minutes
  • Sample must not be turbid – filter beforehand if necessary
  • Wipe the cuvette with a lint-free cloth before measuring
  • Requires WINLAB Data Line Photometer (sold separately)
