What is the sample cooler used for?
The SCS 20 sample cooler from Spirax Sarco cools down hot water samples before they are fed to the online analysis. It is integrated into the sampling line and has cooling water flowing through it in counterflow. This ensures the sample reaches the analyser at a safe temperature – protecting the measuring equipment and ensuring reliable measured values. The robust stainless steel cooler is designed for high sample water pressure.

Application
The SCS 20 is installed in the sampling line; a cold water line is connected to the cooling water side. The hot sample water passes through the cooling coil and releases its heat to the cooling water in counterflow. The cooled sample water is then available for continuous online analysis (e.g. with the SYCON series).
💡 Note on operation
For effective cooling, sufficient cooling water at the lowest possible temperature should be available in counterflow. The permissible pressures (cooling coil max. 20 bar, housing max. 10 bar) must not be exceeded.
