What is DEHA measured for?

DEHA (diethylhydroxylamine, C₄H₁₁NO) is a widely used oxygen binding agent in steam boiler systems. It protects against corrosion caused by dissolved oxygen. The correct dosage is crucial for the protection of the system and the efficiency of operation.

Underdosing leads to insufficient corrosion protection, while overdosing causes unnecessary costs. The photometric determination enables a particularly precise measurement in the range up to 3 mg/l.

How does the test set work?

The CALDUR® DEHA test set is based on the Ferrozine method. DEHA reduces iron(III) to iron(II), which forms a violet complex with ferrozine. The color intensity is determined photometrically with the WINLAB Data Line Photometer.

Advantages of the CALDUR® test set

  • Extended measuring range 0.05 – 3 mg/l DEHA

Larger range than the colorimetric variant

  • 120 provisions per set

Economical for continuous use in power plants and heating systems

  • High precision due to photometric evaluation

Objective measurement results for optimum DEHA dosing

  • Ferrozine method

    Specific and reliable

Areas of application

Pond / lake
Groundwater / well water
Drinking / tap water
Aquaristics
Pool / Swimming pool
Industrial processing
Boiler water
Food preparation
Waste water treatment

Carrying out the measurement:

  1. Take a boiler water sample and allow to cool to room temperature
  2. Fill water sample into round cuvette up to the mark
  3. Add reagent A and mix
  4. Add reagent B and mix
  5. Wait for 5 minutes reaction time
  6. Insert the cuvette into the WINLAB Data Line photometer and start the measurement

Important notes

  • Allow sample to cool to room temperature before measuring
  • Adhere exactly to the response time of 5 minutes
  • Do not confuse DEHA and MEKO – different test sets required
  • Requires WINLAB Data Line Photometer (sold separately)
