What is chloride measured for?

Chloride (Cl-) is a naturally occurring anion in water and an important Reagent for water quality. The limit value for drinking water is 250 mg/l Cl- (Drinking Water Ordinance). Elevated chloride concentrations promote the corrosion of metal pipes and can indicate contamination.

The HR test set (High Range) covers a large measuring range of 0.2 – 300 mg/l and is particularly suitable for monitoring drinking water, groundwater and industrial process water.

How does the test set work?

The CALDUR® Chloride HR test set is based on the mercurimetric method. After adding two reagents to the water sample, a coloration develops, the intensity of which is precisely determined with the WINLAB Data Line photometer.

Advantages of the CALDUR® test set

  • Large measuring range 0.2 – 300 mg/l Cl-

Covers the entire drinking water range and beyond

  • 120 provisions per set

    Economical for continuous use

  • High precision due to photometric evaluation

Objective, reproducible measurement results with the WINLAB Data Line

  • Quick analysis in just 2 minutes

    Ideal for frequent routine checks

Areas of application

Pond / lake
Groundwater / well water
Drinking / tap water
Aquaristics
Pool / Swimming pool
Industrial processing
Boiler water
Food preparation
Waste water treatment

Carrying out the measurement:

  1. Fill water sample into round cuvette up to the mark
  2. Add reagent A and mix
  3. Add reagent B and mix
  4. Wait for 2 minutes reaction time
  5. Insert the cuvette into the WINLAB Data Line photometer and start the measurement

Important notes

  • Adhere exactly to the reaction time of 2 minutes
  • For values above 300 mg/l: dilute the sample and convert the measured value
  • Wipe the cuvette with a lint-free cloth before measuring
  • Requires WINLAB Data Line Photometer (sold separately)
