Conversion adapter
The conversion adapters allow existing automatic restart systems to be modernised without replacing the adapter cables already laid. The adapters are simply connected to the existing adapter cables of the predecessor version; only the transmitter and receiver modules of the new version need to be fitted.
- C to E – modernises systems of the C version to the E version (Schindler, ThyssenKrupp)
- MO to D – modernises systems of the discontinued MO version to the D version (Kone, Otis)
Use the module type to select transmitter or receiver and the conversion to select the appropriate combination.

Areas of application
Field of use
Automatic restart systems (WBS) are used on escalators and moving walks in public and commercial passenger transport and automatically release the unit again after an emergency stop as soon as nobody is on it any more. The conversion adapters are used to modernise existing systems of the C or MO version.
Operating principle
The light curtain uses up to 99 light barriers to create a vertical safety light grid across the escalator. Each light barrier consists of a transmitter module and a receiver module; if a person interrupts a light beam, the TLCU central unit detects the occupancy and withholds the release. The system works independently of ambient light and is self-monitoring and self-configuring according to EN 115:2008 (Cat. 4 / SIL 3).
Conversion
- Remove the existing transmitter/receiver modules of the old system – the adapter cables already laid remain in place.
- Connect the conversion adapters to the existing adapter cables.
- Fit new transmitter and receiver modules of the target version (C → E or MO → D).
Important notes
- Select the appropriate conversion: C → E (Schindler/ThyssenKrupp) or MO → D (Kone/Otis).
- Existing adapter cables remain in place – only the modules are replaced.
- Work only by trained personnel and when de-energised.
