Radar sensor RMS-2 (M12)

The RMS-2 (M12) radar sensor with adjustable sensitivity is a motion detector. Unlike other sensors, the RMS-2 distinguishes between approaching and departing objects. This information is made available to the user via two separate switching outputs. The sensitivity of the device can be configured in four steps via an internal jumper strip. The RMS-2 (M12) is connected via a standard industrial connector.

Use on escalators and moving walks

Radar sensors from RLS Wacon detect approaching passengers on escalators and moving walks and act as direction-dependent motion detectors for the automatic activation (return to readiness) of the unit. The escalator starts as passengers approach and switches to stand-by during traffic pauses – saving energy and reducing wear. Compared with pyroelectric detectors, radar technology works in a direction-dependent manner and is less sensitive to environmental influences.
