The PC 400 sample cooler is used to withdraw a water sample from a hot water line up to 120 °C. By installing it in the sampling line and connecting a cold water line, samples such as boiler water, boiler feed water and condensate can be monitored automatically and continuously for quality. To determine the water hardness, the SYCON BoB online analyser, for example, is used downstream of the sample cooler.
The PC 400 is installed in the sampling line of a hot water line (up to 120 °C); a cold water line is connected to the cooling water inlet and outlet. The hot sample water flows through the cooling coil and releases its heat to the cooling water in counterflow. The cooled sample water is then fed to the online analyser (e.g. SYCON BoB) and continuously monitored.
For sampling from hot lines, a sufficient cooling water flow must be ensured so that the sample water is reliably cooled to analysis temperature. The permissible pressures (sample water max. 16 bar, cooling water max. 8 bar) must not be exceeded.
