The SYCON analyzers from RLS Wacon work fully automatically and reliably – provided that the wearing parts are replaced at regular intervals. The peristaltic pump cassette is the central dosing element: it delivers the Reagent precisely into the measuring cell and thus significantly determines the measuring accuracy. Worn pump hoses lead to inaccurate dosing quantities and therefore to falsified measurement results.
Seals (O-rings), suction lance and agitator blades are also subject to natural wear due to constant contact with water and indicator solution. Replacing these components in good time prevents leaks, dosing errors and unplanned device failures.
The maintenance intervals vary depending on the appliance type:
| Device type | Cleaning the measuring chamber | Installation of the maintenance set |
|---|---|---|
| SYCON 2502/2602 | Every 6 months | Every 30,000 analyses or 24 months |
| SYCON 2702/2802/P | Every 6 months | Every 30,000 analyses or 24 months |
| SYCON Fe | Every 3 months | Every 15,000 analyses or 24 months |
| SYCON SiO2 | Every 4 weeks | Every 10,000 analyses or 6 months |
| SYCON BoB | Every 6 months | Every 15,000 analyses or 12 months |
If the water or ambient temperature is high or the water is organically contaminated, the cleaning intervals should be shortened if necessary. Cleaning the measuring chamber takes approx. 20 minutes.
Each maintenance set contains all the wear parts required for complete maintenance: Hose pump cassette, bottle connector, suction lance, O-rings, dosing O-ring and agitator blade. The exact scope is tailored to the respective appliance type.
No tedious searching for individual spare parts – everything is coordinated
Precisely manufactured components for maximum measuring accuracy and service life
Select the set for your specific SYCON model – with the right pump cassettes and seals
All components can be replaced in a few simple steps – detailed instructions in the device manual
One set covers complete maintenance – no hidden costs for missing parts
The following instructions describe the replacement of wearing parts as part of regular maintenance. Detailed, device-specific instructions can be found in the respective operating instructions.
| Component | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Peristaltic pump cassette | Remove the cassette from the holder, loosen the hose ends. Insert new cassette and connect hoses as marked. Ensure that the correct type of cassette is used (white or black rollers depending on the appliance model). |
| O-rings | Remove old O-rings from the measuring chamber and the plug. Clean the sealing surfaces. Rub new O-rings lightly with acid-free grease and insert. Note: Dosing O-rings must not be greased. |
| Suction lance | Remove the old suction lance and replace it with the new one. Make sure that the lance reaches the bottom of the bottle so that the reagent can be fully utilized. |
| Bottle connector | Remove the old bottle connector and replace it with the new one. Check that it is firmly attached to the reagent bottle. |
| Agitator blade | Replace the stirring paddle in the measuring chamber. The stirring paddle ensures uniform mixing of the sample and reagent during the analysis. |
The SYCON SiO2 works with a 3-reagent system (A, B and C). During maintenance, all three peristaltic pump cassettes must therefore be replaced at the same time (1× with black rollers for channel A, 2× with white rollers for channels B and C). Three suction lances, three bottle connectors and three dosing O-rings must also be replaced. In addition, the screw-on dispensing plugs must be loosened and the light rod plug carefully removed (sensitive to scratches – only push out with a plastic or wooden stick). After reassembly, all three reagents must be added individually until no more air bubbles escape.
In addition to replacing the wearing parts, RLS Wacon recommends cleaning the measuring chamber regularly with the SYCON Clean cleaning set (item no. 30-010900). The cleaning set removes deposits and soiling in the measuring chamber and the lines, which can impair the measuring accuracy. The device-specific cleaning intervals can be found in the maintenance table in the product description.
Order the maintenance set in good time before the planned maintenance date. The SYCON devices log the analysis counter on the SD card – this allows the optimum maintenance time to be determined based on actual usage.
